Get Ready to Sell (4): 5 Things to Make Your Home Shine in Summer

After setting records in March and in April, California median single family home price set a new high for the third time in May, above $818,000. While this market continues to favor sellers, buyers also start to feel the fatigue after shopping for homes for months. For Sellers who want to take full advantage of the best selling season, summer, what can you do to attract more buyers.

Here is a short checklist to prepare your home for sale in the summer. And you can do all these items yourself. • Power-wash the driveway and the exterior. First impression is crucial. Instead of spending money repainting, a newly washed exterior gives that clean, new look.

  • Repair siding. This goes along with the point above, create a spotless exterior that immediately attracts the buyer. Repair the damaged areas and touch up the faded paint.

  • Clean the deck/patio/outdoor furniture. Outdoor space has gained significance because of pandemic. It is even more important during the summer season.

  • Fill the grass and tidy up the garden. You can get the right seed from the local garden center and apply to the bald spot. Water consistently, then you will see new grass. Again, it does not need to be a big-project; yet it will make your backyard look fresher and more lively.

  • Last but not least, hose down your air-conditioner condenser if it is outside. Let the clean look match how well your air-conditioner functions. Of course if needed, please make any necessary repairs.
