Get Ready to Sell (3): 2021 New Home Design Trends

When we enter this exciting new year, we already know some emphasis that stems from COVID house hunting will stay, such as office space, outdoor space, larger home, and so on. Now looking forward into the new year, what fresh design ideas will elevate your home and attract buyers' attention?

Recently Wall Street Journal surveyed 200 design professionals and here's a list of what's in.

  • Outdoor Shower/outdoor: this can work perfectly for vacation home, which has attracted more buyers in 2020. Major take-away is to make the outdoor as well-designed as the indoor.

  • Textiles that you enjoy touching: this one is my favorite; I love the soft texture of velvet and furry fabrics. These textures on your couch and other surfaces can instantly bring the feeling of being home.

  • Cabinets, not open shelves: storage that makes the space more organized and neat. One sub-trend you can incorporate is drawers with grabbable undersides, which creates a more streamlined look

  • Smart faucet: smart home features has gained popularity especially when more and more younger home buyers enter the market. Who doesn't like that your faucet can give you the perfect water flow and temperature? And guess what? Since it is touchless, it does not get dirty easily.

  • Moodier colors: all shades of white have dominated the home design for quite a few years. 2021 brings us darker hues, emerald, dark grey, blue are only a few new choices.

P.S.: If you are considering selling your home and purchasing a replacement home in January, I am providing assistance with closing cost and down payment including information on closing cost/down payment assistance programs. Don't hesitate to contact me for more details :)
