What do buyers want post COVID-19?

The stabilized and slightly increased home price during and post COVID-19 is no longer a surprise to us. Because of stay-at-home ordinance and work-from-home practice, more and more people prioritize finding a home to meet their needs of having a shelter, a classroom in the house, and home office space.
According to a recent Redfin study, aspiring home owners either start the home purchase process or speed up the process because of COVID-19. For a household of two, working from home in a one-bedroom apartment is becoming less feasible. Family with children who will start their new school year online also need more space at home.
Buyers actually are not willing to compromise their needs but rather pay higher price for what they want. Many are looking for suitable, adequate outdoor space since the children stay at home longer and will need the backyard/front-yard for recess in between online classes. Families want separate, designated rooms that can be a study room for kids and a separate office space for parents who work from home. Home buyers are willing to foot the higher bill to buy a bigger home with more rooms. And this should continue to be encouraging news for sellers who are considering putting their homes on the market and how they can make their homes more desirable post COVID-19.
