Having separated space for various functions such as working from home or learning from home is one major trend from the Spring and Summer home shopping season. The reason for this home buyer demand is because the 2020-21 School Year starts from home for millions of families across the nation. For new home owners and home owners who are considering selling soon, setting up a learning space is an important step you can take to help you settle into the new home or sell your home faster.
Tip 1: Establish a sense of learning space. You don't necessarily need to designate an entire room as the home classroom, especially if the number of the rooms in the house is limited. Set up a space that allows kids to feel that they are in an area only for learning. It should be away from where they rest and where they play. The area should have plenty of lighting; natural light is even better. It should also be away from the foot traffic of the house. So the learner won't be distracted. If you can find a quiet corner close to the window in any space where family members don't visit during the day, this can be an ideal area for study.
Tip 2: Adding seals to the windows/doors to keep the noise out. You can also sound proof the area by adding fabric-covered panels, rugs, carpet to absorb noises.
Tip 3: Make it like a classroom. Putting visuals and items that children see in their classroom. Hang calendar and bulletin board on the wall to display daily schedule and school events. Adding subject-relevant or behavior-oriented posters to keep the learning environment encouraging. Use a cubby or a rolling tray to store school supplies such as markers, paper, scissors, glues, and so on for easy access.
Tip 4: Be mindful of the background for your child's Zoom class. Older students such as middle schoolers or high schooler definitely don't want to be embarrassed by the background. Bookshelf is always a good idea or a divider with a clean background.
Tip 5: Keep the learning space clutter-free and neat. Just like noise can be distracting, mess can distract our mind as well. For home sellers, it is more essential to keep your entire home space neat and clutter-free so you can showcase your home.
